FIRST CLASS DESCRIPTION
Beginner Classes

Our classes focus on learning safety and the fundamental skills necessary for beginning swimming.  All classes are ½ hour, available once or twice per week.   Students are scheduled according to their age & level.  Beginner levels B1, B2 & B2+ are available in semi-private (2:1) or private (1:1).  Beginner level B3 is available in group (4:1), semi-private (2:1)  or private (1:1). 

B1:
Beginner, very afraid.  Probably won’t want face in at first.
B2:
Beginner, not afraid, might put face in, but no experience.
B2+:
No skills, NO FEAR! Very dangerous level, will jump in and go under.
B3:
Knows how to back float with help, can swim unassisted about 5 feet.
 
Advanced Beginner Classes
Advanced beginners are mainly working on coordination of breathing in freestyle and starts, turns, finishes and advanced survival skills.  These levels can be taught in small group (4:1 ratio) classes, or for more individualized attention, they can be placed in Semi-private or Private classes that are 1/2 hour, once or twice a week. 
C:
Can swim freestyle unassisted 20 yards, needs work on proper breathing.
C+:
Swims 25 yards easily, needs to improve freestyle & backstroke technique.
D:
Swims freestyle & backstroke well.  Needs work on starts, finishes, beginning butterfly.
   
Intermediate (Stroke) Classes

Stroke classes are for the swimmer who is ready to learn breastroke and butterfly or who needs work on those strokes(mainly).  Students are best classified depending on the skill improvement needed.  If strokes are being introduced or if coordination has been difficult, semi-private or small group classes are recommended.  After stroke concept is understood, swimmer is ready for stroke and turn class.

E:
Knows free and back very well, may have some knowledge of breast.
 
Stroke and Turn Classes

Stroke and Turn class is for the swimmer who has learned all strokes well, but may need to continue work on one or more.  This swimmer is ready to learn more advanced skills, including:  endurance, turns, starts, circle swimming, using pace clock, etc.  This swimmer may wish to advance to team (Copper program), or may want to keep in shape for summer league.   This class is offered September through April, once or twice a week.  This 45 min. class is  taught in the outdoor pool and may have up to fifteen students.

F:
Knows all four racing strokes, needs fine tuning on one or more stokes.
