FLEET
Families,
The 2010
Swim-A-Thon is now off and running with our Letter Writing Party and Pancake Breakfast
tomorrow after practice. The members that turn in 10 or
more letters tomorrow receive a free swim clinic following the
party. Please sign up
online so we know how many members to expect.
This event is our largest fundraiser of the year,
contributing to our Club initiatives that benefit every
swimmer, including financial assistance, team travel, and facility
improvements.
The Swim-A-Thon is comprised of a donation campaign and the actual
swim event (April 10). The donation campaign runs through
April, with swimmers sending out letters or emails (through
Firstgiving.com) asking for donations. Swimmers can also ask
friends, neighbors, teachers, etc. for in person donations. There
are some great prizes that swimmers can earn based on donations
collected. Some prizes are based on participation and some are
based on amount of donations collected.
During the swim event, swimmers swim up to 200 laps in 2 hours or
less. The swim event is being held at the FLEET Aquatic Center
on Saturday, April 10 from 9:00-1:00 p.m. with two sessions for the
swimmers. Swimmers that cannot make the swim event can still
participate in the Swim-A-Thon, making up the swim component at a
practice. The swim event on 4/10 will also be an opportunity for
fun, socializing, and food with the FLEET community.
All of the Swim-A-Thon information, as well as downloads of the
donation letter and instructions are on the logged in FLEET
website.
We are asking each competitive team swimmer to raise at least
$150.00. This may seem
like a lot but if you send out at least 10 emails or letters, you
will be surprised how easy it is. We will be tracking which group
raises the most money and a party will given to the group that
wins. So, good luck
and let’s raise some money for our club and our
sport!
Thanks
so much!!
